Congratulations, Ministry of Finance...sorry, Ministry of Fascism.
Japanese Prime minister, your obedient marionette Yoshihiko Noda, appears to have succeeded to turn on the button to damage his country.
However, that's it for you, MOF.
Consumption tax hike bill was passed in the Lower House of Japan in favor of three parties including DPJ, LDP as well as New Komei (NK) although 70 lawmaker of DPJ rebelled by voting against or by absence.
However, this bill would be scrapped soon. As things proceeded, the scenario became clearer.
LDP has already started sending a message to insist that DPJ must do the strict disposal for the rebel including its heavyweight Ichiro Ozawa, who has fought a power struggle against ruling party's leadership. On Ozawa's side, those who have decided to follow Ozawa will bolt and form a new party before disposal.
JDP and NK can get an once-in-a-lifetime pretext to destroy the three-party agreement since DPJ could not avoid the rebellion. That's what JDP and NK contemplated. These two opposite parties will soon submit a no-confidence motion against the Cabinet. Of course votes from new party which would be formed by DPJ's rebels will be added and the bill will be passed.
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda will be forced to decide to dissolve the Lower House. The ruling party DPJ would lose almost the half of its seats and fall into the opposition. On the other hand the bill will be voted down in the Upper House, in which LDP and NK have the majority.
Hu hu.
